Town Merchant
Sells rotating equipment for Emeralds. Includes stock categories, rarity unlocks, price and discount math, paid/free refresh rules and every settlement unlock.
What the Town Merchant sells
Stock covers melee weapons, ranged weapons, armour and artifacts. The published stock rule is three items per unlocked rarity; Unique stock is excluded. Buying requires a free slot in the corresponding inventory category.
MetaBot lists stock-category weights of 2:2:2:1 for armour, melee, ranged and artifacts. Those weights describe category selection—not the chance of finding one particular weapon. A refreshed shop can still fail to contain your target.

Town Merchant levels and upgrade cost
Profession levels apply across the Town Merchant's settlements. The published three-per-rarity rule implies 3 / 6 / 9 stock entries at levels 1 / 2 / 3 when all listed groups are populated.
| Vendor level | Cost from previous level | Cumulative shards | Available rarity groups |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Unlocked by quest | 0 | Common |
| 2 | 10 Echo Shards | 10 | Common + Rare |
| 3 | 15 Echo Shards | 25 | Common + Rare + Special |

Equipment prices and discounts
The publisher rounds the resulting price to the nearest Emerald. The available discount steps are documented, but this guide does not have a verified progression rule for earning each discount. Check the displayed offer instead of assuming an upgrade automatically grants 20%.
Price = round(20 × Item Power × rarity factor × [1 − discount])| Pricing input | Published values |
|---|---|
| Rarity factor | Common 1; Rare 2; Special 3 |
| Discount | 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% |
| Example: Rare, Power 30, no discount | 1,200 Emeralds |
| Same item, 20% discount | 960 Emeralds |
Natural refreshes, free charges and paid restocks
Wikily reports a natural stock refresh every 30 minutes and paid immediate refreshes costing three Echo Shards. Dungeons.tools adds a free-refresh charge system: one starting charge, storage for up to three, and a three-shard payment when no charge remains.
The reviewed sources do not establish the exact free-charge replenishment rule. Do not equate the natural stock timer with charge regeneration. Inspect your actual remaining charges before budgeting a paid refresh.
| Refresh action | Budget implication |
|---|---|
| Natural stock change | Published interval: 30 minutes |
| Refresh with a free charge | No shard payment according to the newer source |
| Refresh without a free charge | 3 Echo Shards |
| Five paid refreshes (derived) | 15 Echo Shards; no guaranteed desired item |

Shop with a target in mind
- Check the target's item page and whether the shop can sell its rarity.
- Compare Item Power and effect usefulness with your current item.
- Confirm inventory space and the actual discounted price.
- Use a free refresh if available; evaluate paid refreshes against your next vendor upgrade.
- For a Unique target, use the recorded regional or quest route instead of spending shards on excluded shop stock.
