Books, compatibility and point refunds

The Enchantsmith uses a book you have acquired to apply an enchantment to compatible equipment. Books remain available for reuse. Check the book's allowed gear types before planning a combination.

Disenchanting returns allocated Enchantment Points; salvaging enchanted gear also returns invested points. The sources do not establish that every earlier Echo Shard payment is refunded. A fixed enchantment on a Unique is not automatically a reusable book unlock.

Enchantsmith levels and upgrade cost

These levels are shared between Enchantsmith locations. Unlocking tier III does not make every enchantment free or improve every item automatically.

Published point and shard costs

The publisher labels these columns new tier I and upgrades II/III. The Research Lab interprets the point values as the resulting allocation, rather than adding every tier together. That interpretation is explicitly provisional: the reviewed text does not unambiguously resolve incremental payment versus total allocation in every transaction.

For planning, a Special tier III entry is listed at six points and requires vendor level 3. Do not silently turn 2 / 4 / 6 into twelve permanently allocated points, or assume that all three services together consume only one shard. Compare the in-game confirmation with the listed costs.

A reliable enchanting workflow

  1. Find a compatible book through its named quest or recorded pool.
  2. Read all tiers before spending; some benefits change magnitude, count or behavior.
  3. Unlock the Enchantsmith tier you need and check remaining points.
  4. Review the displayed transaction, then apply the enchantment in game.
  5. When replacing equipment, recover its allocated points through disenchanting or salvage as appropriate.
